Feeling lost, I turned to Reiko, my childhood friend and confidant. She was always there for me when I needed her, and this time was no different. As I shared the news of my mother’s remarriage with her, she immediately offered me a place to stay at her house. I was touched by her kindness and gratefulness washed over me.
